Harriet Bouverie

Public sexual scandal was something only members of the aristocracy could afford, and the Primrose family appear to have had more than their share of it. Harriet divorced an Earl to marry a baronet following an affair which began around the time Daniel Sandford baptised her son Bouverie.

Story
She was divorced by Act of Parliament 1815 for crim. con. 1813-15 with Sir Henry St John Carew St John Mildmay, 4th bart, from whom the earl obtained £15,000 damages. Sir Henry was the widower of Harriet's elder sister Charlotte who d. 1810. Henry and Harriet were married in Stuttgart 1815, and she died age 44 at Nice. (2 p.135-6)
